Since her first steps into production, ursula has focused on making music with samples and a cappellas, exploring what can be achieved by cutting up and collating often very discordant sounds. What emerges is an interesting balance between accumulation and dissipation, a collage of bass notes, harmonies, vocals and drums.
Influenced by club culture, architecture, art and the natural world, as well as sociology and psychology, ursula makes subtle interpretations of these themes in her work. She utilizes the freedom of digitally-based music production to create a distinctive musical vocabulary, attaching symbolic significance to various sounds and in doing so equates these sounds to themes such as love, loss, instability, death, sex, femininity and masculinity.ursula also creates mixes which exhibit similar themes to her productions, with a focus on creating often unsettling yet uplifting cerebral and dancefloor experiences.
