Brain Rays – Music For Abandoned Beach Parties

The Music For Abandoned Beach Parties’ album by Brain Rays is out now and available to buy on tape cassette (hand numbered limited edition of 200) and digital download from our Bandcamp store.

Brain Rays is the solo project of Benjamin Hudson (usually one half of noisy hip hop duo Baconhead) and the album is a soundtrack for low lights and late nights. Featuring the silken tones of Nigerian vocalist Theo Ogundipe, and Cape Khoboi’s melted guitar. Brain Rays’ debut album Music For Abandoned Beach Parties warps lo-fi house and funk to provide a warm and gentle hand back onto the dance floor when logic would have screamed at you to leave the party several hours ago.

The nice people at Revolt of the Apes made Brain Rays “Band of the Week”

“Good one to wake up with”
– Rob da Bank (BBC Radio 1/BBC 6 Music/Sunday Best)

“Brain Rays injects light into pure night time with this superb mini LP. A soothing fudge of bassline, colour and deliberately late rhythms bound together in the reverb of a shiny perspex sphere.”
– Neil Landstrumm (Scandinavia/Planet Mu/Mosquito..)

“I really like the record. Great woozy and dusty vibe”
– iTAL tEK (Planet Mu/Atom River)

“Like an after-hours soundtrack with exactly the right amount of sexiness and sleaze”
– DJ Donna Summer (Cock Rock Disco/Network Awesome)
